Diploma in Modern Telecoms

This Distance Learning Diploma course comprises a comprehensive training package incorporating advanced aspects of mobile, converged and fixed networks, including detailed considerations of network technology and relevant business processes. Core topics are mandatory, but the modular structure also allows a good degree of specialisation.

Full tutor support is provided via online tutorials within our Virtual Classrooms. Support resources come via the Managed Learning System and Telecoms Virtual Campus. This ensures that participants are able to maximise their learning in a flexible and pro- active manner. Regular Webinars and Tutorials are designed to keep participants fully engaged and progressing through the course.

Industry intelligence and analysis from Informa Telecoms and Media’s research team is built into the programme, and a two-weekly newsletter, ensure students are kept up to date on the very latest trends and hot topics within the industry.

The course is modular in format: Students follow four core modules, and then choose two from a range of elective modules – enabling them to effectively customise the programme to their job function, the company requirement, or their area of interest.

The programme is assessed through an on-line final examination – successful completion of which leads to the award of the Diploma.

The course would benefit those looking to: enhance their knowledge of Modern Telecommunications in general; or to build on specific areas of expertise by broadening their experience and knowledge base, whilst looking at chosen specialist areas in detail.

It is especially suitable for use as a more advanced course in a company-wide training scheme, providing an excellent framework to build a strong team of competent individuals in all areas of company operation. It is equally suitable for individuals, and in either case, successful completion results in the award of the Informa Diploma in Modern Telecommunications.

This programme is designed to give a more detailed analysis of the market and technical issues surrounding convergence, and through the modular structure, allows for a good degree of specialisation.

Study Options

The course is modular in format. Depending on the study option selected, students follow four core modules, and then choose either two or five from a range of elective modules – enabling them to effectively customise the programme to their job function, the company requirement, or their area of interest.

Students will be awarded an internationally recognised University Cerificate if they complete the Integrated or Bridging Diploma options (see below for details).

• Foundation in Telecoms (3 Modules) – Students study 3 mandatory modules
• Standard Diploma (6 Modules) - Students study 4 core modules plus 2 optional modules
• Integrated Diploma (9 Modules) – Students study 4 core modules plus 5 optional modules
• Bridging Diploma (9 Modules) – Students study the Foundation in Telecoms plus any standard Diploma programme

How to qualify for the University Certificate

Studying 9 modules over 9 months and complete the associated assessments and you will qualify for a University Certificate (Level 4)

You have two routes to gain the University Certificate. Either:

1. Diploma Bridging Programme (for those less experienced): Successfully complete the Foundation in Telecoms programmes plus any of our Diploma programmes OR
2. Integrated Diploma Programme (for those more experienced): Successfully complete one of our Diploma programmes and study an additional three modules from your chosen Diploma
