This course has been designed to give a clear understanding of the evolution from GSM and the addition of GPRS, to the third generation UMTS. The concepts of each technology are presented in a clear and concise format, enabling the delegate to make sense of the reasoning behind the move to 3G and the implementation strategies.

The service aspects, architecture, operation, planning and implementation strategies for each technology are presented, together with the main issues involved in the evolving the network toward 3G. In addition, the delegate will gain a basic understanding of W-CDMA scheme used on the UMTS Radio Interface.
