Practical exercises are included throughout the course. These exercises are designed to reinforce the specific concepts covered, the delegate will require a scientific calculator and access to Excel spreadsheets (or similar).
The case study will involve delegates planning the radio coverage for a LTE system using a leading software tool. Two scenarios will be explored, an urban environment in central London and a suburban/rural environment. The case study objective will be to solve both coverage and capacity issues in a spectrum limited case, the delegate will analyse the case study for coverage reliability, capacity performance, modulation scheme coverage, interference and assess the impact of using MIMO based systems over standard antennas. The designs will then be further analysed for the business case and optimal design.
The case studies and software tools are used to reinforce the planning principles and to highlight the impact of LTE specific features and to allow the delegate to experience the planning process including consideration of the business case and optimisation.
